Weekly Announcements – November 19 to 25

THIS WEEK:  Pilates scheduling, Adjusted class schedule for Thanksgiving, Spring 2013 Registration, Thanksgiving Break, Complexions at The Joyce, 10 Hairy Legs Premiere.

  

ADMINISTRATIVE NOTES AND REMINDERS

Kim has released important information regarding Pilates session scheduling

Now that the BFA Senior Solo/Duet Concert has been rescheduled, you will need to sign up for your ticket again. The new dates are Dec. 11 & 12, and all BFA students are required to attend. All dance works will be performed at both concerts. INSTRUCTIONS:  Log in to eCollege with your NetID and password; click on Dance Assembly; and follow the instructions there.

Classes on Tuesday, November 19, will operate on a THURSDAY class schedule. Regularly scheduled Tuesday evening rehearsals for faculty and student works still stand.

Classes on Wednesday, November 20, will operate on a FRIDAY class schedule.

There is no class on Thursday, November 21, and Friday, November 22, in observation of Thanksgiving.

 

SPECIAL EVENTS

The Soma Center Opening tour and reception will take place 11:30am on Wednesday, November 28 in Studio 110. View the Facebook event

 

TRAVEL & STUDY ABROAD

Diversify your dance studies by studying abroad through one of our exchange programs with the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London or the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in Israel.

The financial aid deadline for DanceJerusalem Spring 2013 is November 30. Advising meetings with Frederick Curry may be made through Ryan Lynch at rylynch@rci.rutgers.edu.

 

MASTER CLASSES & RESIDENCIES

Guest artist Assaf Benchetrit will be teaching Ballet 6 at 12:35pm on Thursday, December 6. Assaf, originally from Israel, has danced with the Panov Ballet and the Israeli Ballet. He has performed with United States companies such as The Joffrey Ballet, Metropolitan Classical Ballet, and Alabama Ballet as a principal dancer. Assaf has toured through England, France, Germany, Italy, and more. He holds a BS in Computer Science and a BFA in Dance from Montclair State University.

 

COURSE PLANNING

KUDOS & SHOUT-OUTS

Robert Johnson wrote a feature in the Star Ledger on Professor Randy James’ new company, 10 Hairy Legs.

On Monday, November 5th, Barbara Angeline danced at the Bernard Jacobs Theatre in NYC. Barbara performed with other Broadway professionals in a variety show called Only Make Believe that raised money for the organization of the same name. She had a fabulous time, dancing on the set of the Tony award winning show, Once!
