FROM JULIA

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff.  In light of the recent firing of Mike Rice and the exposure of abusive behavior directed at the men’s student basketball team, I would like to reiterate the Dance Department’s commitment to maintaining a safe and nurturing environment in which to train, create, perform, study, teach, work and socialize. If any member of our community should encounter abusive treatment themselves or witness the abuse of others, please know that you are justified in alerting the chair and/or the Dean of the school. I am grateful to work in our Dance community where respect, kindness and compassion is the norm and that I see this demonstrated on a daily basis. Thank you.

Run out and get your April copy of Dance Magazine! Mason Gross Dance is featured in this issue under “Making It Happen: The New Jersey–Israel Commute” by Elena Hecht. BFA junior Mimi Gabriel, currently studying in Israel, is interviewed along with Julia Ritter, chair with a picture of Talia Beck in rehearsal with Jessica Colberg. Information

Please don’t forget to get your tickets for the BFA Senior Dance Concert and DancePlus Spring 2013! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s work on our VJM stage this month.
