SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES
Toscana Dance HUB
TDH is a unique International higher education dance and music summer program. Created in New York, with its home at the Florence Dance Center in Florence, it prides in its collaboration with the prestigious Florence Dance Festival. The students of TDH present and perform works on this renowned stage, which has hosted some of the most relevant choreographers and dance companies of our time, including Merce Cunningham, David Parsons, Bebe Miller, Bejart, Scapino Ballet, Teatro della Scala, just to mention a few. Now in its 25th edition, the Festival will curate and present an evening dedicated to the talented dancers, choreographers and musicians of TDH as part of their ‘Silver Anniversary’. The performance held at the culmination of the program and nestled in the awe-inspiring setting of the outdoor theater of the Museum of the Bargello, will prove a stimulating and world-class platform for catalyst and artistic growth.
The intense three-week program follows a choreographic residency format, where the students work in technique and repertory with three distinct and accomplished modern choreographers (one each week). Dancers also take classes in ballet, yoga, Pilates, floor barre, somatics, music, flamenco, performance enhancement; they participate in masterclasses, cultural outings and attend performances. The concurrent music program is as the same time revolutionary and groundbreaking. Dedicated to the education of classical trained musicians interested in pursuing a career in dance accompaniment and composition, takes advantage of its affiliation with NYU/Tisch Dance department. The budding accompanists learn invaluable skills in the unthreatening environment of TDH and fine-tune such skills in the respected context of dance classes at Tisch Dance.
