This Week: A message from Julia, Guest Artists for Tech E, 5th Technique Rotation Schedule and a Winter Intensive Opportunity.

FROM JULIA

Congratulations to everyone for a fantastic DancePlus this past week! Kudos to all choreographers, performers, technicians and faculty who have supported the process and productions!

Our Pre-College Dance Experience (formerly known as Dance Day) will be presented on Tuesday, November 25. We have a wonderful group of students coming from the cooperating schools who partner with our EdM program. ​We look forward to welcoming our guests and sharing all we do with them.

Schedule Changes for This Week:
Tuesday is Thursday classes (Thursday rehearsals in the evening)
Wednesday is Friday classes (Friday rehearsals happen that day)

Please note the Department will close at 1pm on Wednesday, November 16, 2014.

GUEST ARTISTS FOR TECH E

December 1st and December 2nd

Darla Stanley will teach Tech E on Monday, December 1st, 2014

Darla Stanley (dancer) is a dance maker, performer, and teacher. Her work has been supported by the PEW Charitable Trusts, Philadelphia Live Arts Festival, Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Susan Hess Choreographer’s Project, Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism, and Dakshina/ Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance Company. Darla has performed internationally with dance companies including, Chris Burnside and Dancers, ZeroMoving, Karen Bamonte Dance Works, Melanie Stewart Dance Theatre, Subcircle, and Leah Stein Dance. She has also performed with many independent choreographers and was featured in the Philadelphia Bank Project by London choreographer, Siobhan Davies. She has taught dance at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and at Temple, Drexel, and Wesleyan Universities. She holds a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and a MFA from Temple University.

Nick Bruder will teach Tech E on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014

Nick Bruder is a graduate of the Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). Nick has been a performer with Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More production since 2011 and received a 2011 Falstaff award for Best Principle Performance for his role as Macbeth in that production. Nick recently appeared in the Metropolitan Opera’s production of The Death of Klinghoffer (2014). Additional projects include work with Czech choreographer Pavel Zuštiak in the The Painted Bird Trilogy, a work in three parts presented at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, New York City.
