ADMINISTRATIVE NOTES AND REMINDERS

Dear Students: It seems our auxiliary cables for sound in the studios are being lost or stolen at a rapid rate. We know the studios are open at all times and that many individuals have access. With this in mind, we highly recommend that students purchase their own auxiliary cables for use in rehearsals. In the meantime, the Dance Department will explore how to install cables so they cannot be removed. Please note, however, that each studio will be outfitted with cables only twice a semester. Thank you.

KUDOS & SHOUT OUTS

Rutgers senior Anna Gichan is privy to two special worlds. In one, she wears her hearing aids and interacts with the frenetic sounds of everyday life. In the other, she exists in near silence. This duality, she believes, is tied to her love of dancing and sense of happiness. Watch her incredible story.

 FACULTY KUDOS & SHOUT OUTS

Congratulations to Julia M. Ritter, who has been selected to present the 2016 Selma Jeanne Cohen Fund Lecture based on her research on dance and immersive performance at the 39th annual Fulbright Association conference in Washington D.C. this November. The Selma Jeanne Cohen Fund Lecture for International Scholarship on Dance was created through a bequest by the late dance scholar Dr. Selma Jeanne Cohen — who was a Fulbright scholar in Russia in 1976 — to recognize research in dance history and other areas of dance scholarship. The Selma Jeanne Cohen Endowed Fund is administered by Fulbright Association. Julia successfully defended her dissertation in October and will graduate with a PhD in Dance from Texas Woman’s University in December 2016.
