NHSDA Induction Application Deadline
A reminder that the deadline for submitting applications for Induction into the Rutgers Chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts is Friday, Nov. 23rd, at Midnight. Changes in Designation of Class Days
The week of November 19th is shortened due to the Thanksgiving recess.
- Tuesday, November 20th follows a Thursday class schedule.
- Wednesday, November 21st, follows a Friday class schedule – There will be no rotation!
Thanksgiving Break Hall Closings
Certain residence halls will be close at 7pm on Wednesday, November 21st and will reopen on Sunday, November 25th at 9am. Please check the list of respective halls that are closed. Hall not listed will remain open during the break.

Fall 2018 Student Dance Concert
If you are choreographing a piece for the Fall Concert, you MUST email Syde your performance information (title, performers, music, costumes, lighting) credits and biography by 12:30pm on Monday, November 19th
If you a performer in the Fall Concert, you MUST email Syde your biographies no later than 12:30pm on Monday, November 20th.

BFA Ticket Sign Up – DancePlus Fall
If you have not already done so, log onto Canvas and choose your DancePlus Concert Ticket by Sunday, November 18th at 11:59pm
CHANGE TO DANCE DEPARTMENT STUDENT RUSH POLICY
The Dance Department will provide one rush ticket to all students with valid RU ID, 30 minutes prior to the scheduled performance time. The policy provides only one ticket per person per ID, meaning; students may not provide two IDs to procure two tickets. Seating is subject to availability; if the performance is sold out or is showing signs of being sold out imminently, the Box Office reserves the right to revoke the distribution of Student Rush at any time for any reason. The only way to assure a ticket is to buy one in advance.
ATTENTION First Year students: DAFT testing will take place on Friday, 11/30 in Studio 110 at 9am.
Scholarship for Continuing Students
The NEW Scholarship Application is now available! This application is for students who wish to be considered for NEW scholarship money in ADDITION to any awards or loans you are already receiving. For PRIORITY consideration, please make sure your complete application is received in hard copy by the Dean’s Office by December 1st, 2018 (mailed submissions postmarked by December 1st will be considered priority).

Important Drop/Add Registration Dates:
- Monday, November 26th: Last day to withdraw from school – End of the 12th week
- During the Spring 2019 pre-registration period (now till the first-day of class for the spring semester), MGSA students can register for a maximum of 20.0 credits. After the first day of class, MGSA students may register for a maximum of 24.0 credits.
Rutgers Office of Financial Aid
- The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) is now available
- File before the January 15, 2019 deadline to ensure that you are considered for all available aid.
- The Rutgers Office of Secretary are now accepting commencement speaker and honorary degree nominations for the 2020 commencement ceremony!
- Nominations for the May 2020 Commencement will be accepted until November 30th, 2018

The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) and the Division of Student Affairs, through the Knights’ Watch Program, will be promoting a Walk Smart Campaign to educate our university community on the importance of pedestrians being aware of their surroundings and using the designated crosswalks and urging motorists to increase awareness of pedestrian and bike traffic and follow the laws – Dr. Salvador Mena, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.

Arts Umbrella Summer Intensive
Summer Intensive: August 5-23, 2019
At Arts Umbrella’s International Summer Dance Intensive, world-renowned teachers, choreographers and repetiteurs offer a dance experience that will lead dancers to reach their performance potential. The intensive full-day, three-week program includes Ballet, Repertoire, Pointe, and Pas de Deux for advanced students, as well as Gaga, Modern, Forsythe Improvisation Technologies, Contemporary, Movement Exploration, and Coaching, and Conditioning.

This weeks spotlights will feature EdM Student Nava Behnam. These features will also be on our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages, so be sure to give the posts a thumbs up!
Nava is a performer, artist and educator. Originally from Tehran, Iran, she immigrated to North America when she was five years old. In 2013 she earned a BA in Dance and a Minor in Philosophy from the University of Maryland, College Park and currently is pursuing a Masters of Dance Education.
Health & Wellness
MFA, EdM, BFA, BA majors and Dance Minors are invited to sign up for free Pilates Reformer small group sessions in the Dance Department Soma Center. Students can sign up for a once-a-week, hour-long session. Sessions are available Tuesdays and Wednesdays 4-7pm, and begin on Tuesday, Nov. 6th. The sign-up sheet for the second half of Fall semester is posted outside the Soma Center, and sign-up is on a first-come basis. Reformer classes are a wonderful opportunity to supplement your dance training, so please take advantage of this opportunity if your schedule permits.

The Metuchen YMCA is looking to expand its dance programs for participates of all ages. They are looking for Instructors to teach: Jazz, Hip-Hop, Modern, and Ballroom.
