Important Messages

DancePlus Ticket Distribution

On Monday, November 26th BFA Students can pick up their DancePlus tickets during the lunch break (11:30am – 12:30pm) in the Dance Conference Room

Pre-College Dance Experience

Class adjustments for Pre-College Dance Experience

Thursday, November 29

  • Ballet Classes run from 8AM-9AM
  • Technique Classes are cancelled

(members of UDW and students tracking into 5 year EdM Program; check your e-mail for specific instructions)

 

Please be on the look out for an announcement about Pre-College Dance Day via email and postings on our bulletin boards.

DAFT Testing

Attention first-year students: DAFT Testing will take place on Friday, November 30th at 9am in Studio 110

Reminders

BFA Senior Thesis Showing

Senior Thesis Showings will take place on Wednesday, December 5th from 9am to 12:30pm in Studio 110

Due to the showing, please see below for class changes

  • Ballet will be held from 8am to 8:45am. All dancers participating in showings must take ballet to warm up
  • ALL Technique classes are canceled!

Spring Rep Auditions 

Sign ups for Spring Rep Auditions is now posted outside of Studio 110 for Thursday, December 6th from 12:30pm to 3:30pm

  • Kimberly Barosik: 12:30pm – 2pm
  • Bill T. Jones: 2pm – 3:30pm (you MUST be available for the Winter Intensive from January 9th to January 19th, 2019)

Please sign up by Tuesday, December 4th! You do not have to audition for both reps.

Rep Meeting Day and Time for Spring 2019

  • Bill T. Jones: Wednesdays 5:35 pm – 8:35pm
  • Kimberly Bartosik: Fridays 12:30pm – 3:30pm

CHANGE TO DANCE DEPARTMENT STUDENT RUSH POLICY

The Dance Department will provide one rush ticket to all students with valid RU ID, 30 minutes prior to the scheduled performance time. The policy provides only one ticket per person per ID, meaning; students may not provide two IDs to procure two tickets. Seating is subject to availability; if the performance is sold out or is showing signs of being sold out imminently, the Box Office reserves the right to revoke the distribution of Student Rush at any time for any reason. The only way to assure a ticket is to buy one in advance.

Scholarship for Continuing Students

The NEW  Scholarship Application is now available! This application is for students who wish to be considered for NEW scholarship money in ADDITION to any awards or loans you are already receiving. For PRIORITY consideration, please make sure your complete application is received in hard copy by the Dean’s Office by December 1st, 2018 (mailed submissions postmarked by December 1st will be considered priority).

Scholarship Application for Continuing Mason Gross Students PDF form

Important Drop/Add Registration Dates:

  • Monday, November 26th: Last day to withdraw from school – End of the 12th week
  • During the Spring 2019 pre-registration period (now till the first-day of class for the spring semester), MGSA students can register for a maximum of 20.0 credits. After the first day of class, MGSA students may register for a maximum of 24.0 credits.

Rutgers Office of Financial Aid

  • The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) is now available
  • File before the January 15, 2019 deadline to ensure that you are considered for all available aid.

Commencement 2020

  • The Rutgers Office of Secretary are now accepting commencement speaker and honorary degree nominations for the 2020 commencement ceremony!
  • Nominations for the May 2020 Commencement will be accepted until November 30th, 2018
  • If you would like to submit your nominations, please visit May 2020 Commencement Speaker and Honorary Degrees Nominations

Pedestrian Safety

The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) and the Division of Student Affairs, through the Knights’ Watch Program, will be promoting a Walk Smart Campaign to educate our university community on the importance of pedestrians being aware of their surroundings and using the designated crosswalks and urging motorists to increase awareness of pedestrian and bike traffic and follow the laws – Dr. Salvador Mena, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.

Annual Movement Sentence Choir

Annual Movement Sentence Choir

Celebrate dance and dance education by creating and performing in the fourth annual DEL Movement Sentence Choir led by Guest Artist David Dorfman.

Workshop will be held on Saturday, February 9th, 2019 from 2pm – 6pm on Lexington Avenue at 92nd Street

Health & Wellness

Soma Center

MFA, EdM, BFA, BA majors and Dance Minors are invited to sign up for free Pilates Reformer small group sessions in the Dance Department Soma Center.  Students can sign up for a once-a-week, hour-long session.  Sessions are available Tuesdays and Wednesdays 4-7pm, and begin on Tuesday, Nov. 6th.  The sign-up sheet for the second half of Fall semester is posted outside the Soma Center, and sign-up is on a first-come basis.  Reformer classes are a wonderful opportunity to supplement your dance training, so please take advantage of this opportunity if your schedule permits.

Kyle Marshall – BFA Alum and his company presents four dance: old and new

The showing will be on Friday, November 30th at 7:30pm and on Saturday, December 1st at 2pm at County Prep High School – 525 Montgomery St. Jersey City

There will be a Q & A after each performance and light refreshments.
