The MacArthur Genius Award winner and renowned international choreographer will share excerpts from his book Story/Time: The Life of an Idea, a reflection on his art and life and a meditation on the demands and rewards of artistic creation.

University Commencement Special-Needs Parking Hangtag
University Commencement will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at HighPoint.com Stadium on the Busch Campus. With more than 50,000 people expected on campuses in Piscataway and New Brunswick, parking on campus will be limited. Therefore, graduating students must register to receive up to two free parking hangtags for themselves and their families or guests. Registration for special-needs parking hangtags is now open. Registration for non-special-needs tags will open on March 25. Learn more here.

Important Graduation Information – Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students who anticipate completing May 2019 degree requirements must apply for graduation by submitting a diploma application online. Please contact the Undergraduate Registrar’s Office at 848-445-2757 and ask for Monica Licourt or Michael Rusen, or email diplomas@registrar.rutgers.edu with any concerns about a diploma application. Please note that completion of a diploma application does not imply that graduation requirements have been met.
Summer Study Abroad in Berlin w/ Theater Professor Christopher Cartmill

Theater Department is making spaces available for undergraduate Dance Department students to participate in a 3 week summer study abroad experience in Berlin, Germany
Earn 3 liberal arts credits
Visit includes attending dance, opera and theater performances, with direct contacts with the artists
Also included are a variety of museum visits; all museum tickets/passes pre-paid with tuition
Cost: $3000

Through this immersive performance, conceived and directed by MFA Candidate Kiri Avelar, participats will be guided through several happenings, including film screening, live pop-up performances, and a dance class – all curated to provoke responses for the individual and the community

An immersive interdisciplinary dance performance choreographed and directed by MFA candidate Jessica C. Featherson. Featuring original artwork and photography by Mason Gross School of the Arts student Jonathan Adams and Angelica Calderon, and poetry by New York-based spoken word artist Shadenia Sivad.
Saturday, April 13th from 2pm – 5pm at the Zimmerli Art Museum. Free admission. Limited engagement RSVP required.

Rutgers Summer Session
The schedule of classes for the Summer 2019 term is now available. Choose from more than 2,500 courses in a wide range of subjects, offered in-person, online, or at off-campus locations throughout the state. Make progress towards graduation, improve a GPA, or fulfill a prerequisite this summer. Start planning schedules now and register beginning on February 18. Learn more here
Important Add/Drop Dates
Wednesday, January 30th – Monday, March 25th: Undergraduate drop period with a “W” grade

Presented by Springboard Danse and Gibney, SpringboardX aims to bring the same exemplary philosophies and methodologies of dance and dance-making to a broader demographic. This summer unites Springboard artists Sidra Bell, Elia Mrak, Troy Ogilvie, Or Schraiber, Ami Shulman, Bobbi Jene Smith, VIM VIGOR, and our very own Alexandra Wells, and we are honored to have these remarkable artists sharing their experience for this second annual SpringboardX Skills + Process!
SpringboardX is for the curious professional and pre-professional dancer. There is NO audition process, as SpringboardX was established to emphasize access and community for dancers of all backgrounds.
Bates Dance Festival
The Professional Training Program enrolls intermediate and advanced dancers, ages 18 and older, who have previous experience and curiosity in the field of dance. Dancers develop technique and strengthen their knowledge-base. Dance-makers have the opportunity to create and dig into composition and process. Teachers refresh and refine skills for the classroom and the studio.
Choose from a wide variety of technique and somatic offerings in the morning. Design your individual experience by taking a 3-week deep-dive into one intensive or mix and match from diverse one-week offerings in technique, process, and pedagogy.

Rutgers Student Health
BFA, MFA, EdM, BFA, BA majors and Dance Minors are invited to sign up for free Pilates Reformer small group sessions in the Dance Department Soma Center. Students can sign up for a once-a-week, hour-long session. Sessions are available Wednesdays 4-7 pm and Thursdays 3-6 pm, and begin on Wednesday, Jan. 30th. The sign-up sheet for the first half of Spring semester is posted outside the Soma Center, and sign-up is on a first-come basis. Reformer classes are a wonderful opportunity to supplement your dance training, so please take advantage of this opportunity if your schedule permits.
